My interview appeared in the illustration magazine "ART QUARTER" in Taiwan.
Here is an excerpt from the interview.
Q：イタリア・ボローニャ国際絵本原画展入選した作品を紹介してください。どのようにストーリーを考えているんでしょう？作品の制作過程での考え方を教えて下さい。作品を通じて最も伝えたいメッセージは何ですか？
Q: Please introduce your work that was selected for the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition 2016.
How do you create the story? What is the most important message of the work?
A：昨年（2015年）11月の個展で紙を使った半立体作品を展示しました。今回の作品もその一環です。
私自身は楽しんでこのシリーズを制作しましたが、いわゆる絵本らしい絵本ではないので、入選するとは思っていませんでした。
一枚の紙を切り抜いて折って自由に配置するだけで、世界が作れるのです。
このシンプルな方法で世界中の子供たちに作る楽しみを共有できたらと思っています。
今回の作品は展示での見栄えを考えて着色していますが、実際絵本にするなら色は自由に塗れるようにしても良いかもしれません。

A: I held a solo exhibition last year, and the exhibition included illustrations with added dimension. These works were a part of that exhibit.
I enjoyed making this series but it’s not characteristic of children’s books, so I didn’t think they would be selected for the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition.
Children can cut out, fold, and stand the pieces by hand with only a sheet of paper.
It is so simple. I think we can share joy with children in such a simple way.
For the purpose of the exhibition, I colored the illustrations. But if I were to make publish it as a children’s book, it may be better to allow the children to color it themselves.
